When to use : October
Choose your list of secondary School(s) you want your child to go to the folllowing September in preference order (Based on your open day visits in July) Be Strategic. If you have concerns that you may not win any of the schools on your list, you may need to add a more local school that you don’t necessarily want, to avoid being sent toan undersubscribed school out of the area.
- Please immediately book into your hands-on support 1 x hour-long time slot in order that we can discuss your school selection choices soonest. The calendar will automatically give you access for 7 days from today’s date, and it is imperative that you collect and review all the school’s information before we e-meet
- Ensure that you are compliant and have full access to Microsoft Teams using the email you used to set up your calendar invitation for your hands on support 1 x hour-long time slot
- Completing the research stage from Subscription Package 1 will give you a good understanding of your most favourite schools for you to be able to make well informed choices on your application form. However, before you make this choice, please also consider the following:
- Ensure that you have visited and taken notes from all school(s) relevant to making your selection, even those that won’t be on your list
- Obtained all Ofsted reports and Prospectus’ relating to all relevant schools
- Revised each school’s admission policy from their website to determine which schools and the order relating to your circumstances. Since your open day visits, the school(s) may have altered their policy
- Be strategic. If you have concerns that you may not be successful with any of the schools on your list, you may need to consider including a more ‘local’ school that you don’t necessarily want to avoid being sent to an undersubscribed school which is also not as local to you as you’d like. If you are allocated this ‘local’ school, you are still able to appeal for the other two schools on your selected list if it should come to this.
- It may be better to be allocated this more ‘local’ school than risk having to start a secondary school appeal knowing that your child might be attending an out of area school where they have no friends if your subsequent school appeal is unsuccessful!
- Remember, undersubscribed schools are usually that for a reason!
